Ah, the sweet and delicate animals of the forest. In their natural habitat they exist in camouflaged colors of browns and whites, so they may blend in with the brush and flora of their surroundings.
But I think they look better GOLD! Doesn't everything?
I recently thrifted three little woodland creatures at one of the luckiest thrift stores around me. I've been looking for some deer or lamb figurines (I know, this is a strange life I lead) and as the Goodwill gods would have it, I found two deer and a lamb in one excursion.
The little deer was hand painted by someone whose initials are LSH in 1979, and no offense to Linda Sue (Lisa Sue?), but that paint job was a little wonky. The bigger deer is a music box! It was purty but didn't quite match my decor. Plus... GOLD.
All I did for this mini-project was slather on some of the same Liquid Leaf that I used for my filing cabinet. In the end I decided to leave little lamb in his original colors, because he's too cute to mess up. I don't know where I'm putting any of these little guys yet, so I just staged them for these photos.
I do have a scheme in my head to get my dad to help me make something like this adorable cubby shelf. Maybe over the holidays?
What do you think of my little woodland creatures? Are you on the gold crazy train yet? I'm in love with gold, as you can see with my filing cabinet, Instagram display, DIY tribal curtain, faux headboard, and Happy Corner with all the thrifted gold accented plates. And that's just the stuff I've blogged about.
