This year I have been a pretty evenly dispersed mix between "Christmas butt-kicker" and "Christmas slacker." Is it just me, or does making it through December in your 20s seem like the hardest and most grueling task of the year? Getting your life in order is something that takes practice, especially during the hectic season of Christmas, and those of us domestically challenged folks living on our own may have a bit of a motivation problem. Christmas has a lot of related chores: putting up the tree (and inevitably cleaning the whole living room while you're at it), decorating the tree (so. many. ornaments.), trying to be crafty and come up with some kind of mantle display or homemade wreath, baking a pie sans assistance from your mother, writing (and actually mailing) Christmas cards, shoveling the driveway... The list goes on.
If you need a little push to get your rear in gear, I've put together my very first Rental Revival Spotify playlist*. Some songs are rockin', some are tongue-in-cheek, some are slightly inappropriate, some are sentimental... I think it's a good representation of the holiday season. (Thanks to my sister Sara Jayne for giving me that awesome Billy Idol song and more!) So get your tush off that comfy chair and go get your tree from the basement. Those cookies aren't going to bake themselves. And I promise your hairdresser will be super excited when she receives your Christmas card in the mail. (Mine was!) Tomorrow I will be sharing my vintage-inspired Christmas setup, as well as some more holiday goodness from blogging friends who are also late to the game. Rock on.
