You guys. I found a bunch of awesomely cheap stuff for my bedroom. I got storage ottomans from a secondhand store, a jewelry dish from a thrift store, a wall hook from Hobby Lobby, and a cute little cactus. I think my room might be close to complete. The only piece that's missing is a new dresser... and maybe some wall shelving. Anyway! This post is about happy finds. Happy times. Happy rhymes.
In case you didn't notice I hung that thrifted flower embroidery piece today! I love the clash of olive green fabric with ocean-y blue walls. It's a good kind of clash. All it took to secure it safely to the wall was a couple of little nails from my handy dandy tin of random particles. That's what I call the place where I put all of those screws and nails and thingamabobs and dohickeys that accumulate over time around the house. Mine's a pretty little antique tin that I always used to admire as a kid. Recently my mom gave it me, because she has a lot more random thingys than me and she needed a bigger tin.
I've saved the best find for last. I have been looking for green storage ottomans for the foot of my bed. The other day I walked into a secondhand furniture store that I frequent on a semi-regular basis, and lo and behold, they had 7 of them! Seven green storage ottomans. Jackpot! I only bought two, but it was nice to know I could've equipped my entire room with them if I wanted.
The cool thing about this store is that every piece inside goes down 1%
in price for each day it has been sitting on the showroom floor. For
instance, if a couch has been there for 30 days, it's 30% off. I got my
living room credenza, which is a vintage mid-century cabinet, for $40 at
this store. It's a great concept!
These ottomans were listed at $50.95 each, which is kind of ridiculous in my opinion. I've seen some nicer ottomans at HomeGoods and TJ Maxx for that much, but for these Target brand tweed numbers $50 is just too much. Luckily for me they were 53% off! $24.46 each is a price I can handle. They each have tons of space, too; I have only filled one up so far.
