Happy Friday! I just wanted to share some photos of my lovely rental home. I haven't done anything with the exterior yet, and I plan on getting some pretty potted plants, so consider these your "before" photos!
The house has two bedrooms, as well as a newly finished attic which I think is technically considered a third bedroom. It has a lot of character, as you can see by the masonry above each window, the arches in the porch, and of course the triangular peaks that are characteristic of a home this style.
One of my favorite features of my house is the attached screened-in porch. Though the screens need either replaced or patched up, I love using this space for my morning coffee and just to sit outside in the sunny weather. (Although we haven't had much of that yet in Cleveland!) The entrance to the porch is off of the living room. The nice thing about the interior door that leads to the porch is that I have a screen insert that can replace the glass of the door during warmer months of the year.
Here are a couple of views of the backyard. It's quite small, but I have one beautiful tree and a nearly empty flower bed that has a lot of potential. The whole backyard needs a makeover, but I have some ideas so I'm not discouraged. I haven't mowed the lawn yet but it's going to need it this weekend. We've been getting a lot of rain and sun, and it seems the grass suddenly sprouted like crazy. I don't know if you can tell, but the backyard is overrun with chives, of all things! Petunia likes to sniff them... I don't blame her because they smell really good!
In the back corner is where I think I am going to plant a small vegetable garden. I am going to get started on that this weekend. I know it's too late to start from seedlings, but I am a beginner so I think I'll attempt to grow some veggies from store-bought plants. Does anyone have any recommendations for easy and edible backyard garden plants?
My garage is totally awesome and was equipped with quite a few treasures when I moved into the house. The wood walls and beams and built-in shelving remind me of my Pop-Pop's garage. It really is the perfect little area to work, and is one of the reasons why I fell in love with the house. Hopefully it will house a lot of my unwanted things this summer if I can get a garage sale together!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of the exterior of my bungalow. I can't wait to spruce everything up this Spring. Are you working on brightening up your backyard? What sorts of projects are you doing to liven up the space?
